Can I sort resources dropdown in MS Project Gantt Chart

I can sort resources on the Resource Sheet but I would really like to be able
to sort them alphabetically on the Gantt Chart / Task Information / Resource
Name drop down.

Hi Davep,

If you sort the resources by Name on the Resource Sheet and choose the
option to Permanently renumber resources, the lists appearing on the views
will appear alphabetically.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Sounds fantastic, however please forgive my ingorance, how do I get to that

Hi Dave

Don't apologize -- I'm sorry for not giving you the details.
Choose Project > Sort > Sort by to open the Sort dialog box.
In the first Sort by: choose Name from the drop-down.

Click the Permanently renumber resources checkbox.
Click OK

I hope this helps and sorry for not being more thorough the first pass. Let
us know how you get along.

I know this is kind of an old thread but I tried what you said and it worked
fine up to the point that I went back into Assign Resources and it wasn't
sorted any longer. Is there a difference if you are working on Project
Server vs client versions?

Hi Jim,

Unfortunately I cannot find the original post, so it's a bit tough to
tell what I said. I assume I suggested sorting the resource sheet and
renumbering the resource IDs.

I am not too familiar with Project Server, but I imagine there may be a
difference if you are using Enterprise Resources from the Project
Server. If you are using Project Server and an enterprise resource, you
might want to try posting the details of what you tried to the Project
Server newsgroup.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
