Can I suppress a field in a report if it is void?

I have a report with a field that is important for about half of the records,
but in half of them it is blank, i.e. unnecessary. I'd like to suppress it
when there's nothing in it so the number of pages is reduced.

Can this be done?

I forgot to mention - I've tried "can shrink" and that doesn't do the trick.

Is the control in the Detail Section?
Set the control's CanShrink to Yes ... and also set the Detail Section
CanShrink to Yes.
Note: There can be NO OTHER control on that same line.
