Can I switch an XML form to a Sql data connection

B

Bev Kaufman

I am working in Infopath 2003.
My boss wants me to take a timesheet template I downloaded from Microsoft
and modify it to suit our needs, including convert it from an XML to an Sql
data source? Is this possible? The Convert Main Datasource tool is asking
me for an XML schema.

Essentially you have a few options.
1) If you have SharePoint v3 you can use the existing form and publish
it to WSS. The forms are now saved in a SQL database. Not truely a
relational db for the forms, but this will work. Reporting can be
tricky, but if you promote columns, WSS will allow some reporting.

2) Recreate the schema structure (data source(s)) into a sql
database. Recreate the form from scratch.

3) Buy a 3rd party tool called QDabra(sp?).

Finally, do yourself a favor and use IP 2007. It can be used w/o any
other office 07 and has superior functionality and coding support.
