Can I "trust" another Exchange Server at a different organization?

It's Exchange week instead of Exchange day (might turn into Exchange month).

We have an Exchange server so does our sister company (who we have an Active
Directory trust with). I can assign rights to their users on our network and
vise versa. I can also assign rights to Exchange accounts (I want them to be
able to open one of our mailboxes at their location) but when I go to open
the mailbox I get an error that "Unable to display the folder. Cannot open
the mailbox for this user because the user does not have a server mailbox."

If I dig deeper under help it states "It is not possible for an e-mail user
to see the mailbox of another user if their e-mail server is not configured
to communicate and provide permissions between the two systems."

That leads me to believe it might be possible, but the question I'm asking
is how???
