Can I turn off the 'reply with only highlighted text' feature?

Hi

I'm new to Entourage and have 2008. If I have something highlighted
in an email and hit reply, only that highlighted text is in quoted in
the reply email. I'd like to have the entire email, no matter if I
have something highlighted or not. Is there a way to turn off this
feature?

Thanks

No, just don't highlight. :)

Diane,
Exactly correct.
A very easy way to turn off highlighting is to press one of the arrow keys
to move the cursor one character.

I was hoping for a better solution. ;) Maybe I need to send in
feedback to make it an option like Mail.app has.

Thanks for the fast responses!

This is a feature not a bug nor a problem. Alternatively, you can use
the Command-A (Edit --> Select All) feature to select everything and
reply. All or nothing and you get what you're after.

I'm curious as to why this feature is troubling you. Why are you
frequently selecting text in a received message and then replying?

Hi Bill

I work in web design and I'm constantly copying items out of an email
to paste into a web editor or web browser. It's highly annoying to
me, but I understands that it's probably not a priority for Microsoft
to worry about.

A simple click in the window will deselect. You can't seriously expect
Microsoft to fix a bad habit of yours?

As William says, it's a feature, not a bug. Many newsreaders and mail
programs do it to encourage and make it easy to trim quoted text. There
comes a point where you can't make *everything* configurable, or the
Preferences pane becomes unwieldy.

there is a checkbox in preferences: reply & forward to 'include entire message in reply.'

i'm having the opposite problem myself, i can't get it to reply with highlighted text, and i can't find the option anywhere. it seemed to be the default in the 2004 version, but it's not doing it anymore. help?

There is nothing to check, just select the text and reply. Works in plain
text and HTML.
