Can I update an inserted image?

When I insert a document as a picture, One Note always adds an annoying tag
that tells me where the file came from (something I wish I could get rid
of...) but anyway, if I update the file ( .xls in this case) is there a way
to update the One Note page? or maybe there is a better way to link a file?

No way to automatically update the page. But you could always delete the
old version and reinsert the new version as a picture.
