Can I update from a different language version

P

Paul

This is perhaps a slightly cautionary tale to be more careful when buying
software. Anyway, I've checked (spoken on the phone) to Microsoft licensing
to clarify that I can legally buy and license second hand retail software in
accordance with Office's EULA, which I can.

I've rather foolishly ended up with a retail upgrade of Visio 2003 with
nothing to upgrade it from (it was a bit silly of me but I'd hoped that
having Office 2003 Standard 2003, Publisher 2003 and OneNote 2003 installed
would allow me to use an upgrade of Visio - apparently Office 2003 does not
allow sideways upgrading).

So I need to find a suitable retail version of a prior version of Visio to
upgrade from. Could I upgrade from a different language version of Visio? It
was widen the scope somewhat it I could.

Hi Paul,

Office 2007 is the first version of MS Office that supports 'crossgrades' (sideways upgrading).

Generally, there should not be a problem in using one language version as the qualifying product for an English language edition.
