Can I upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 2003 for free?

I bought my computer the christmas of 2002 and it came with Windows XP. I am
currently taking a computer class over the internet and my book came with a
trial version of Windows 2003. I really like this version and was hoping that
there was some way to upgrade for free.
