Can I upgrade Windows 98 to XP without upgrading my Office 2000?

Subject sort of says it all. I have an old Dimension desk top that mostly
serves as a Print server for the various Laptops around the house.

If I upgrade the Win-98 to Win-XP, am I asking for trouble?
Is the upgraded OS going to play nice with my Office 2000?
Are there patches/upgrades/ or packages for office 2000 I have to grab as
well?

Certainly, but you'll need to reinstall Office. At least, I always have to.
Regardless of OS, you should install all Office upgrades (though I do not
like SP3 for Office 2000).
After you install, go here and click "Check for upgrades":
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx
And you'll want to make sure you upgrade WinXP to SP2. I would do that
before I reinstall Office.

Make sure that your 'old' Dimension meets at least the minimum requirements
for XP.
