Can I use an Italian office with a german Windows?

Hi there!
I've recently bought an office 2000 professional in italy. I got on my
computer Windows XP with german language. After the installation of the
programme, a problem occoures! The application( may it be Word, Power point
etc...) won't start. Nothing happens after clicking on them.
I asked some specialists in the area, they told me, there are problems with
the language as an italian office with the german Operating system (windows
Xp : german).
1. Is this the problem?
2. Is there any possibility to make it run on my computer?(updates etc.
:couldn't find anyone!)

Basically, no, your configuration is not supported.

The supported configurations for mixed language
installations between localised MS Windows and
