can i use communicator2005 with my hotmail account? explain me..

i downloaded communicator 2005 in my pc. i am using windows xp as my
operating system. but i couldn't log in coz it was showing error or contact
system administrator, can i use my hotmail or yahoo mail accounts to
configure communicator. can i use communicator or it is designed only for
micrsoft..?
Plz let me know, if yes, can u explain in detail hw to configure
communicator 2005?
