Can I use excel data for printing invoices with word?

Hello
Is this a silly question - or does it make sense?

We are frequently downloading an excel workbook from an internet SQL
server. It contains all data needed for invoicing clients and I am
looking for a user friendly way of printing nice looking invoices.

My idea is: open xls - activate vba makro that opens word template -
perform mailmerge action - print one page per client with inserted
data.

Any ideas and suggestions most appreciated!
