Can I use Outlook 2003 as client for OWA?

Hello all,

I have installed my Exchange Server 2003. I can now access my mail via OWA,
but when I tried to use Outlook as my client, I tested my configuration and
receiving was completed but sending failed.

I am currently using this same Outlook as client for my webmail, and that
works well, but when I added a new account with my OWA mail I get an error
message when I tested the configuration. The receiving was completed, but
sending failed on the OWA account.

In my configuration, I have pop3 as mail.abc.com and smtp as mail.abc.com.

Please note that to get to my OWA, I type https://mail.abc.com

Is there something I am missing or could I not use Outlook as Client for my
OWA?

What version of Outlook are you using and what type of account did you add?

By the way, Outlook cannoth be used "as a client for OWA". Both Outlook and
Outlook Web Access act as clients to the Exchange server.

I am running Outlook 2003. I am a user on my exchange server 2003. My server
is in the USA and now I am in Africa. I can use owa to access the mail, but I
was trying to use Outlook as my client.

I think the problem is pop3 or smtp. I am not sure now. However, I had
configured my Outlook to receive and send mails from a domain name registrar.
That is, I have the name www.atb.com registered, and the registrar is hosting
my mail for me. But I now have an exchange server 2003 and I am trying to add
another domain name to my Outlook, that way, my outlook will receive from my
exchange server, and the registrar.

It is my exchange server configuration that is having problem.

I put the
pop3 as mail.atb.com
and the
smtp is mail.atb.com
When I test the configuration, Sending gets completed, but receiving fails.

To get your Outlook to connect to your Exchange server you will need to do a
few things. The Exchange server is not going to be a POP3 account and you
probably should have a static IP address assigned to it.

The easiest way to get this done is configue your Outlook client to use RPC
over HTTP. This will eliminate any of the 'send server' issues you will have
when traveling. What RPC/HTTP does is connect Outlook to Exchange through
the OWA website and uses HTTP as the transport and RPC as the authetication
protocol.

But, once the IP & server are set up follow these procedures, they are
pretty decent:
