It depends what you would want to use it for. You could use it to
present your ideas to publishers, but I wouldn't actually write a book
in PowerPoint. As John said, Word (or any other word processing program)
is a much better choice.

The problem with the use of PowerPoint for books is, that PowerPoint is a
slide-oriented program, in which you will write and design each page
separately. So it might be used well for a children's book with images and
only some sentences on every page. But in most books you will want text that
does not fit on one page to flow to the next page automatically - and that's
not possible with PowerPoint. Thus Word will be the better choice for most
books.

Best regards,
Ute

Interestingly enough Nancy Duarte says she wrote her book slide:eek:logy in
PowerPoint. She then had someone turn it into InDesign pages (or something,
can't quite remember) to send to the printer. Not that I'm recommending it,
but there is a precedent. And I find PowerPoint a useful (and very easy)
tool for layouts, but then that's probably because I know it so well :)
