Can I use the same installation CD on two laptops?

I have two laptops. One for me and my brother. We both go to college and need
2007 version. Being to expensive to buy 2, I just bought 1 hoping we can
share it. Is this a violation? It's for school. And we students are to poor
to cough up 4-5 dollars for these things.

Technically it probably is a violation unless certain conditions are met.
Office Home and Student can be used in the "same household" on up to three
computers but not for commercial use. This is probably the version you have
but unfortunately this version does not have Outlook or Access. Don't know
what products within Office you will need in your college endeavor.

All other retail versions can only be installed on the primary computer and
a "portable device" for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first
device. (This would be a definite violation to share the product.)

OEM versions can only be installed on one computer. You wouldn't be able to
install and activate on a second computer.

Open Office may work for you. It is free, has most of the power of Office
products and can save most of the same file formats as the basic Office
products. www.openoffice.org.

You may want to check with your College bookstore or administration.
Microsoft has academic licenses for Office editions such as Standard or
Professional at lower cost than retail. I think the license is valid only
for one installation {but not sure}.
