Can I view thumbnails in outline panel of Normal view?

K

Kozmo

Seems I've been able to do this before but can't now. I'm using OfficeXP.

I want to see thumbnails (a partial slide sorter view) in the outline panel
of the Normal view. It's easier for me to recognize slides coming up in my
show that way than to read the text of the slides.

thanks

Kozmo,
Click on the Slide tab beside the outline tab to activate the thumbnail
pane.

Kozmo,
When in the three pane view: At the top of the outline pane, there should be
a pair of tabs. the active one is white, the other one depends is not
(mine's blue, but I don't know that it always is). One brings up the outline
view, the other brings up the slide miniature view. Zoom on both can be
adjusted. Is that what you are looking for?

thanks to all three for your replies. You all have about the same answer but
it doesn't do it for me. I've seen those tabs - at least on other machines -
but they aren't here. I scroll all the way top the top of the panel and
there's nothing in the panel or in the frame above it. I find no way to
modify the format or content of the frames. What's up?:

Kozmo,
The only other thing I can think of is that something is amiss in your
default view definition. Go to Tools-->Options, View tab and check what is
displayed in the box for Default view. Another thought: If you go to View
and drag down, does it say anything in parenthesis after Normal View?

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but are you sure you are running
PPT XP? If you do a Help--> About PowerPoint, what does it say?

I am beginning to wonder if a detect and repair is in order. If you do one,
let us know if that helps any.

Kozmo:
Can you take a screen shot of your PPT screen and send it to me off the
newsgroup?
(Reply to this post and unknot my address.) I think it might help with
figuring out exactly what is going on.

I thought I replied to these messages but I don't see my post here so here
goes again.

thanks to the three of you for the replies. You all have the same solution
but it doesn't fit. The pane with the outline does not have tabs at the top
to switch to thumbnails. No matter what I do - scrolling, maximizing - there
are no tabs. Does that feature exist in this version; Office 2000 on an Xp
machine.

I now understand the confusion. You had said you were in Office XP, not
Office 2000. The tabs were added in 2002. They are not there in 2000. The
only way for you to see your slide miniatures instead of the Outline would
be to upgrade to a newer version.

Hi Kathy & Kosmos,
Recently moved to a new office with this problem too. But not in Powerpoint 97.
Please specify how, where and what to download and install for my Powerpoint2000.

Really appreciate your help on this. Sometimes I wonder does Microsoft develop softwares or headaches.
Thanx

Robin,
That feature was added in PPT 2002 (PPT XP). As far as I know, there is no
way to add that functionality to PPT 2000.
