Can I watch a Powerpoint presentation through my DVD player

S

Saralinda

I've made a powerpoint presentation, and I have NeroSmartStart.

Can I put this on a disc so I can watch it on a DVD player?
What kind of disc do I need? A DVD or will a cd-r work?
What format do I need to save the powerpoint as?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Creating a DVD-Video (the kind that will play on your DVD player) from PPT
is not a trivial task. Essentially you need to create an MPEG of your video
and then use DVD authoring software to create the DVD interface for the
remote. And unfortunately, there's not just a button you can push to make a
video of your PPT file. (PPT on the Mac does have a Save as QuickTime
option, but its results are inconsistent, so the quality of a MOV saved from
your video will depend on your presentation.)

If you want to put it on a CD, you can put it on a CD-ROM, which will play
on your computer. It won't play in your CD player in, say, your car, which
would be silly anyway because those kinds of CDs are CD-Audio -- you know,
music CDs. And PPT is a visual medium. You can, of course, create a VCD
(Video CD) which will play in most DVD players. But the process to create
one of those from your PPT file is the same as creating a DVD-Video.

See Make an AutoRun CD
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00037.htm for info on creating an autorun
CD (for your computer). The methods described here use the PPT Viewer to run
the presentation from the CD/DVD. If you create this type of CD (CD-ROM), go
through the process described in FAQ 00037, and when you get ready to burn
the files, use Nero to burn a Data Disk. Don't burn another type of disk,
just burn a data disk.

If you want to create a DVD-ROM to play in your computer and not on a DVD
player like the one hooked to your TV (which, again, is DVD-Video), then you
can use the same technique as for an autorun CD.

Have I thoroughly confused you now?

Sure, you can. PPT2DVD is another solution. It converts your PowerPoint
videos to DVD with music, narration record and selection menu. Then you
can view them both on your PC and home DVD players. For more details,
