can I work an Access file from a disk?

I want to work with a particular Access file without
saving it to my hard drive. I would like to work off of
the CR RW but every time I save the data it turns
into "read-only" and I have to copy the file off, paste
it, change it etc and then it is on my hard drive. Can
this be done? Thank you!

I wonder if anyone has tried it from a CD RW while running something like
Adaptec CD (or whatever it's called), which makes the CD look like a normal
read/.write disk?
