can infopath transfer to word or exel

all the office computers at work are office 2003 with infopath. all the
computers in the field have office 2000. the company will not upgrade the
field units, therefore, spreadsheets in .xml format can't be read in word or
exel. Can this .xml format be translated say by word or exel?

There is a built in Export to Excel function in InfoPath. To convert to Word
you will have to write your own XSLT. There is info in the SDK to get you
started.
