Can Mac Office bought in the US be used in the UK?

I live in the UK & I have just bought a copy of Mac Office Pro on
eBay. When it arrived I noticed that it is a version originally sold
in the US - will this cause me a problem when I register it in the UK?

No. You don't need to register. As long as it's a proper, legitimate
CD and not a bootleg, you'll be OK.

Hi Phil, thanks for your help. I'd actually like to register, I'm
certain it's a ligit CD as it came in a sealed box with a certificate
of authenticity on the top. Am I right to assume it's going to be
exactly the same as a version sold in the UK?

Hi,

the US version should be identical to the UK version. And there's no real
need to register your copy of Mac Office, as this process only allows you to
subscribe to a Microsoft Office newsletter. You don't get any additional
benefits from registering, which is why the registration is not compulsory
in the first place.

.... and of course registration usually means being online, and there
is no compulsion to having internet access. Imaging the furore if
there was such blatant discrimination against no-online-access
customers!

(It's a real pain when various software applications assume that
you're online all the time!)

Hi Phil,

internet access does not have to be necessary for the registration process.
If you have a Windows PC and want to install a recent version of Microsoft
Office on it, registration is part of the activation process of the software
and, as such, is absolutely necessary; even the operating system itself
(Windows XP or Vista) needs to be activated. If you don't have access to the
internet, you will be given a telephone number which you can then call to
activate your software.
