Can mail merge be used with memo templates?

How do I use a memo template in Word and individually address each memo using
the names from an Excel list? I assume this is a form of mail merge, but am
not sure how to accomplish the task.

Use a formletter type mail merge main document. It makes no difference to
Word what the purpose of the document is.
