Can No longer Select Contacts WD2002/OL2003

After upgrading from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003, I can
no longer select contacts from the mail merge wizard in
Word 2002 (I only upgraded Outlook; not Office from 2002
to 2003).

In step 3, I choose "Select from Outlook contacts"; click
on "Choose Contacts folder", then select a profile (the
default "Outlook") and I get the following error:

"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Any ideas?

As a workaround I would try initiating the merge from Outlook (open Outlook,
select a contacts folder and possibly some individual contacts, then use
Outlook Tools|Mail Merge to start the merge.

However,
a. I would be careful using existing merge main documents for this as the
data source will actually change. Probably better to make a copy of your
mail merge main document first and use that.
b. some of the field names may be different using this method.
