Can no longer view Business Contacts - SELECT DISTINCT error?

Jon Whale

I am a new user of BCM, but have been happily using it for two or three weeks
with no real problems, however...
A couple of days ago, when arranging the columns in the 'Business Contacts
in Business Contact Manager' view, I removed the Sort By column (I think it
was sort by?!), and since then I am unable to view any of the business
contacts I have previously enetered.

So now, when I click on Business Contacts in Business Contact Manager i just
get the following message - "Unable to display the folder. ORDER BY items
must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified"

I can still run a report which will display my business contacts, and I can
still use the find function to call up individual details, but I am unable to
add new details or change existing ones.

This is particularly problematic, as I am in the process of launching a new
business and all of my contact details are stored in BCM.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks
JW

Unbelievable. If those MS programmers are doing a select distinct from
an f-ing table then no wonder why the application is so slow!

My Go..... no doubt this development is being
outsourced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just started having the EXACT same problem this weekend. I am so mad I
could scream b/c I need to do a mail merge for a marketing mail out I am
working on for my small business.
PLEASE ... does anyone know how to fix this? I refuse to PAY MS Support to
help me with their buggy software.

The only way I found around this was to uninstall BCM and reinstall it. It
did not wipe out any of my contacts - thank goodness.
