can not access sharepoint 2001 from Office 2003

We have a XP machine with the release version of Office
2003 Professional that creates the following error when
attempting to click on the Web Folder for a SharePoint
2001 workspace.

"To connect to the backward-compatible document library,
you must install the client components of the document
library component for Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal
Server 2003"

We are not operating any SharePoint 2003 machines on the
network only SPS 2001.

I can operate Office 2003 on a Windows 2003 box accessing
SPS 2001 documents no problem. I installed the client
components for backward compatibility from the SPS 2003
disk onto the XP box, however the problem still remains.

Can anybody help??
