Can not change view in Open File Dialog Window.

I'm having a problem when I open the Open file dialog window I can not change
the view from Icons to anything else. I click the view button, but nothing
changes. I'd like to have the Details view so I can sort easier.

Try right-clicking in a blank area of the file list. You should get
the popup menu, which should have a View submenu with choices,
including Details.

Thank you for the response. I tried that and I get the same results. The
version of word is from Office 2003 with all the updates installed.

That's not good. :-(

Try using the Help > Detect and Repair menu item.

That did not work either I also tried to detect and repair from Add/Remove
from the control panel and that did not help either.

I don't know of anything specific that can cause just that one thing to go
missing.

Can you see the Details view in Windows Explorer?

Do you get proper behavior if you start Word with the /a switch as described
in step 2c of http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm?
