Can not delete e-mails

When I try to delete e-mails in my Outlook XP, I get the following error
message,"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the
problem persists, restart Outlook. When I restart Outlook , I still can not
delete the e-mail. I have re-installed Outlook but it did not solve the
problem

I am having the same problem. I am using Outlook 2002 with Xp. I think this
problem is a result of the 2gbyte .pst file size limit for Outlook 2002. I
tried detect and repair under help. I did all of the updates. I compressed
the files. I still can not delete files from the incoming or outbox, but I
was able to drag and drop files to the archive deleted files folder. I could
then delete files from the archieved deleted folder. I still have nearly
2000 emails in my incoming folder that can not be deleted and I can not
send/receive from the ISP server. Are you having the same problems?
Somebody, please help.

I'm having a similar problem, and dragging tiles to the archives at least
removes them from the outbox.

When you say drag them to the archives, how do you do this? (Sorry I'm not an
advanced user.)

Just select an email without opening it. Hold the mouse key down and drag it
to a folder in the archives. Release the mouse key and it drops in the
archive folder. Unfortunately, my Outlook is still hose up. Good luck.

Thanks, sole dog. I cleaned up the inbox. It was the culprit.

I am glad that worked for you. Also, holding the shift and delete key down
on any email will delete it from the system permanently. I am still having
trouble. I used the truncate tool to reduce the pst file size successfully
(described in Microsoft knowledge base article 296088); however, I get the
messaging interface error: unknown error with the new smaller file. Are you
now able to delete files normally from your inbox?
