I cannot send emails from outlook office 2003 because my norton anitvirus
gets caught up while scanning - however I have DISABLED the outgoing scanning
and it STILL scans! THis does not happen in Express. I have disabled norton
antivirus completely and that does not work either. I have disabled the SP2
firewall - still no results. I have worked with my ISP, several techs,
Symantec and no one can seem to firgure out the problem. HELP!

This isn't an Outlook issue - unless Norton puts an add-in that you can
disable in tools | options | advanced.... check there.

And don't disable your firewall for even a second unless you are on a
network that is protected at the perimeter as well - - all the XP firwall
does is block *inbound* traffic anyway, so it isn't related to this.

Try disabling all Norton Anti-virus email scanning, not just the outgoing.
You do not need the scan if you have Auto Protect running.

Verify that you are using Norton Anti-virus 2003 or later and have all
current updates {Open, Norton Anti-virus and run Live Update. The automatic
Live update only updates virus definitions}.

" I have disabled Norton antivirus completely..." If you mean that you have
right clicked on the icon in the taskbar and selected disable then you have
only disabled Auto Protect not the rest of the Norton programs. As far as I
know, the only way to completely disable Norton Anti-virus is to uninstall
the program.

I took your suggestion and found a COM Add-in that I tried to disable.
However, it won't let me do it. It reappears! even after rebooting.
What's that about?

I don't know - it's a Symantec thing, right? Check out their support
pages/forums for help - I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you. You could
launch Outlook from the start | run line once with the /safe switch, but
that would be useful only for testing, and you don't need to test anything.
