In Word 2007, which only partly implements the new Office 2007 drawings/graphics engine, the Distribute Horizontally and Distribute
Vertically alignment tools only work with either
(a) Office 2007 Drawing Objects, but not Office 2007 Picture Objects.
(b) Legacy Office 2007 picture objects.
If you use Office Button=>Save as and save the document in Word 97-2003 format the pictures become Legacy Objects (blue sizing
handles) rather than Office 2007 picture objects (white pearl sizing handles) you can use that particular tool, then use Office
Button=>Convert to revert to the Office 2007 functions. As an alternative you can use Insert=>Shape and then use the fill tools to
put the pictures in the shapes.

In word 2007, I selected more than 3 pictures (objects) and tried to evenly
arrange them in the page. However, when I went to the "align" group, both
"distribute horizontally" and "distribute vertically" were in gray (which
means I could not use them). What is the problem? How to solve it?<<
