Can not edit equations

I have Word 2002 and equation editor 3.1. I just opened a document that I've
been working on for many months, and I cannot edit the equations. When I
double click an equation, I get a "format picture" window. Please help.

deals with MathType and Word 2002, but I believe the same procedures
will apply if you're using Equation Editor.
