I use words 2002 as my email editor for outlook 2000. I always use to be able
to add a background sound such as a midi file to the email or word doc.
Now when I attemtp to adda background sound I get the following message:
The server application, source file, or item can not be found. MAke sure the
applications is properly installed and that it has not been deleted, moved or
renamed.
What is the application? I have tried uninstalling words and then
reinstalling it only to still be unable to insert a background sound.

When I go to close outoutlook I get the following message if I attemtped to
add the background sound:
The instruction at "0x73e68c30" referenced memory at "0x13013cf8" The memory
could not be read.

I am at my wits ends here. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems to be a problem caused when you install SP2. You can uninstall SP2
or wathc for Microsoft to produce a patch to fix this bug. (They may be too
busy counting money :-( )

It's not exactly a bug; it's a security issue. So don't hold your breath
waiting for it to be "fixed."

As someone that does not use an anti-virus program and has never had a
virus, I tend to get a bit annoyed when features that I paid for are removed
because someone found a way to abuse that feature. With that type of an
attitude MS could pull the plug on the whole Internet in the name of
security rather than fix anything.

I feel your pain. I tend to agree. I feel much the same way about airport
security.
