can not install 'Excel 2000' due to error 1335

I have Excel 2000, my operating system is XP, I get an
Error mess. which reads "ERROR 1335. The cabinet
file 'OFFICE.CAB' required for this installation is
corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network
error, an error reading from CD rom, or a problem with
this package." Is there anything I can do to resolve
this?

Hi Joe -

This message is most commonly caused by a dirty disk but can also be caused
by CD-ROM read issues, or problems with memory allocation.

Take a look at the following article and see if that helps resolve the error
