Can not Install MS Office 2003 STD

J

JoshAbell

I put the disk in, the files all come up.

I click on setup, or STD11n, to install.

Windows installer starts and a message comes up,

click ok to try again; it won't install

or enter another path; can not find one

to the instalation package '511735.MAINSP1op.msp'

the path that the computer has C:\programfiles\officeupdate11\cabs\511735\

thats as much as it says. I looked for office 11 in progam files and office
11 isn't there.

I have a product key and a brand new version of STD 2003. But because it is
school multiple license agreement deal I can not get help from microsoft
without paying.

Please Help

By the way, if Windows Installer is looking for the
511735.MAINSP1op.msp file, then Office 2003 should already be
installed on the computer, because that .msp file is part of
Service Pack 1 for Office 2003.

Try uninstalling again, then explore your cd and in the location
cdrom:\FILES\PFILES\MSOFFICE\OFFICE11
Look for a file called offcln.exe and run this. It cleans up previous office
installations. It was designed to be used for previous version of office but
it does remove office 2003 from the system as well very nicely.
Then run a install of office once again.

Try to install by opening the cd-rom with explorer, find the file PRO11.MSI
and doubleclick on that one. Worked for me.
