Can not install Office Project Server 2003

Philipp

Hi.

At first sorry for my English, I am from Switzerland but no one in the
German groups could help me with my Problem.

Our Problem is that we can not install the Project Server 2003 after we
delete this. We tried this because the Project Server 2003 had a
problem on our server, so we decided to uninstall the Project Server
and reinstall it. Unfortunately we could not uninstall the Project
Server. So we deleted all Project Server files and all regedit entries.
Now when we try to reinstall the Project Server, we received the follow
error message: Error 2753. Internal error (PSCOMP.EXE). Has the Project
Server some other files that we forgot to delete? We searched and
deleted all Files or Folders which we found with the name Project.

I read in this group that some others had the same problem, does
somebody have a solution for this problem. I would be very pleased.

Greetings

Philipp,

unless other important applications are running on the machine that run
Project Server 2003 previously, I would strongly recommend you to reinstall
Windows Server completely from scratch and then install PS2003 again on top
of it. By manually deleting the PS2003 files you will run into trouble
sooner or later.

Hope this helps...

Hi Marc.

Thanks for your help. But for us this is not really a possibility,
because we have our SharePoint Portal Server with all our documents on
this Server and on this way we could not work for Days. Does somebody
have a other possibility?

Philipp:

Manually deleting the Project Server objects without using the software
uninstall routine leaves you in quite a "pickle." Unless you can restore
what you deleted, then run the uninstall, and then remove a couple of
objects manually, the best advice anyone can give is to wipe the box clean.
You should be able to take your server down and rebuild it, connecting to
your existing content databases, in a day's work.

You should also know that you need to take additional steps to combine
Portal server with Project Server. See:
