Can not lock Error Message

We have a DB on the Network Drive . We have added 2 new employees to our
site. One of the new emp. can access the switchboard and the other can not
and the system produces an error stating "Can Not Lock". Currently, the
Users have full access and I have added her as a user with full access.

Is there any fix to this problem?

Hi myztiques,

Almost sounds like the kind of message you'd get if you were trying to open
a db in exclusive mode when someone else already had it open. Did you check
the default opening mode (tools>options>advanced tab...should be default open
mode: shared).

Unfortunately, the option is already selected. Just to clarify, she is the
only one out of 60 so users that are in the DB all day. I am really getting
fustrated to say the least!

When you say full access are you referring to NTFS permissions or the
Access security?

This is a stab in the dark, but make sure that that person has NTFS read
write permissions to the mdb file. It almost sounds like she is unable
to create the ldb.

NTFS is NT file system. If the db is on a network drive then my guess is
that you have groups and permissions assigned to thos group. An
assumption of my part I admit. Who administer your network. Have them
check this person permissions. If you don't have someone post back.
I could be way off base here. I just know if the ldb fiel can't be
created the user can't get in.

What do you mean NTFS?

That's the Windows NT File System, the current flavour de jour for Windows.

Also, she is with the users that have full access to all of the DB.

She needs full Read, Write, Create and Delete privileges to the Windows folder
containing the database... not just to the database file itself.
