Can not open certain PP files

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Recently downloaded and installed Update-Open XLM File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.2. When I double click on application(above) popup window opens and states, drag file you want to open in this window. I place PP file I want to open on desktop and when I attempt to drag file into converter window, converter rejects file. Hope I supplied enough information for an answer to this problem. Thank you.

What is your update level of Office 2004? Have your repaired disk
permissions recently? What do you mean by "rejects" ‹ any error message?

What is the file type (extension) of the file you're trying to open - are
you sure it's a .pptx file? Even the converter will not open other file
formats which PPt is capable of creating (such as templates). The converter
doesn't convert Office 2004 to Office 2008, it just allows opening standard
working files in the Open XML format.
