Can not open Word files from Windows Explorer

Just since the last three days I am unable to open Word document files from
Explorer. Word itself opens, but not the document. I CAN open the document
from inside Word.
I am using Word 2003 with SP3, and XP Pro with SP2 and all updates.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office; did a subsequent Office Repair;
reregisterd Word; and reassigned file attributes with no success; installed
the new update for KB 908531; and run the SP3 UnblockWord download - still
can't open the docs from WExplorer.

ANY ideas??? Thank you!

That same has happened here too.....At first when it happened on my laptop I
thought it could be an isolated computer issue. But, my business desktop
running Office 2003 Word did not open either.....Perhaps an automatic
downlaod conflict? I have another running office XP and all is well with
that.....

I finally did a restore to April 20th (before this last batch of Windows
updates) and that fixed the problem.
