can not open word

I tried office 2007 and then uninstalled it. After that I have installed
office 2000 premium. Since then I can not open word document. I tried to
rename the Normal.dot template file and the regedit key. However it did not
work. Anyone knows what might be wrong? Thank you for your help in advance!

If the documents were saved in Word 2007 native format, you will not be able
to open them in Word 2000 (or any previous version) without the free
compatibility converter add-in that you can download from the Microsoft
office support site.
