Can not re-install Office 2003

I am [was] running Office 2003 under Win 2k Pro on a Dell laptop. I am also
running Access 2, 97 and 2000, as I never know which version a customer might
be using. I want to retain these versions if at all possible.

Because of a recent problem opening Outlook from Access in vb code [long
story - I won't bore you!], I eventually removed all of Office 2003. Also
ran Registry cleaner. Now, when I try to re-install it from the CD, it
won't. I first stopped Norton AV, and stopped Black Ice [firewall which I
forgot was there], but same result. Runs file validation then rolls back.
There is also then a flash message which I think is about a cabinet, but it
vanishes too swiftly to read, then I get an apology message for failing to
install.

Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks for the tip - but that didn't work. After 37 failed installation
attempts, I finally got the answer from another message board site, and it
pointed me to a Microsoft solution.

You could try deleting all temp files, then rebooting and trying again
