Can Office 2000 and Office 2007 coexist on Windows XP or Vista computer

I have used Office 2000 (Word and Excel primarily) on Windows XP for a long
time.

I recently purchased Office 2007 and know the interface is very very
different.

I would like to install Office 2007 on my XP machine along with the current
install of Office 2000 so I can gradually learn Office 2007. This would be
in addition to Office 2000- not an upgrade.

In a few months I will be purchasing a Windows Vista laptop and want to
install both Office 2000 and 2007 to continue my transition.

Are there any problems with Office 2000 and Office 2007 coexisting on either
an XP or Vista computer?

Hi C,

I run the same setup. The only problem i've encountered has been updates to Office 2007 messing around with an Office 2000 setting
that required repairing the Office 2000 installation via the Control Panel. Note too that Outlook 2000 isn't fully compatible with
Vista, but there are workarounds - see http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm. Even so, Windows Mail (which comes with Vista)
is more secure than Outlook 2000 and includes anti-spam filtering. Vista's Mail and Calendar programs are likewise viable
replacements for the equivalent functions in Outlook 2000.

Thanks for the reply. It makes me feel better. Hopefully this will be
short term until I get comfortable with 2007 and can fully convert.
