Can one Project Server use multiple databases?

Is it possible to have a single install of Project Server Pro 2003 that can
connect to more than one database? We're considering options for using
Portfolio Modeling and to simplify the process we believe we want to model in
a clean database while loading very high-level project info (mainly generic
resource calls and desired project timeline). I'd like to take my test
environment and use it for this purpose and have it switch back and forth
from test to modeling databases as needed. Hope this is clear....

Yes it is possible to create multiple instances. I often do this for
setting up PSTest and PSTraining instances. The major issue of setting up
multiple instances is that they all share the same Views Processing unless
you manually change it in the registry.

As an aside, you could also have two Project Server systems pointing to a
single database. This is how you would setup a Network Load Balance cluster
or an intranet and extranet setup.

The primary tool you would use to setup multiple instances is Editsite.

Documentation on Editsite can be found in the Installation Guide in the
Appendix.
