Can OneNote 2007 be used with Windows XP & Office 2003?

B

BAM

My company has not yet migrated our office applications to 2007. It will be
some time before we are able to do so. However, I'm very interested in using
the 2007 version of OneNote. Is it possible to run the OneNote 2007 version
on Windows XP and use the 2003 editions of other Microsoft Office
applications? Thanks!

Yes, as long as you have Windows XP SP2. All 2003 applications need to
be installed before you install OneNote 2007.

I'm a bit confused. Did you mean to state all 2003 apps need to be
un-installed<?

If all 2003 apps need to be installed, is that all apps from Office 2003, so
for some reason you might have un-installed Excel?

Some of the H-P office software that came with my Pavilion are so primitive,
I just un-install them to clean the desktop. I so seldom use Excel, I could
probably eliminate it. If just Excel 2003 were missing, would that create a
problem?

Office 2007 was on sale at Costco this week, but I'm reluctant to switch to
Vista at this point.

No. Just Patrick said: The Office 2003 apps have to be *installed*.
This means to say that one can not install Office 2003 apps *after*
OneNote 2007 has been installed.
All of the Office apps have to be be installed *before* installing
ON2007.

Office 2007 does *not* need Vista. It works pretty fine under XPO.

Apart: There are several drawbacks when using Outlokk 2003 together
witzh ON 2007.
The advanced features for the cooperation of Outlook and ON require
Outlook 2007.

Rainald- what advanced features does one gain by upgrading to OL2007? The
only one I have heard discussed so far is the icon placed in an OL2003
appointment that would point to the corresponding ON2007 page?

I don't see a reply from Rainald in this thread, so I'll jump in....

Outlook 2007 and OneNote 2007 interact very well with one another,
including the ability to send Outlook items to OneNote (I do this a
lot with some emails I want to keep long-term as reference
information), and to make notes in OneNote based on records in
Outlook. OneNote 2007 will also allow you to send a OneNote document
in email via Outlook, but both OneNote and Outlook need to be the same
version (or at least that's been my experience) for the interaction to
work properly.
