Can Outlook messages be tagged?

In the Web 2.0 era, objects are often tagged for better searchability. I
know the Outlook software predates this era, but is there a way or an
equivalent methodology to apply personal keywords to Outlook messages, and be
able to search on these keywords later?

In Outlook, those keywords or tags are called "category". You can assign as
many categories as you like, search for it, and group the view by
categories.
