In the microsoft article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;243006
it states "Only Web servers hosting Web pages viewable on an internal
network (that is, an intranet Web server) can run the Office Web Components."
This was for Office 2000 ( OWC 9 ) components.
In the download page for the OWC11 componenets
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2C-402E-4F72-97A5-E0FD290D4B76&displaylang=en
it states "By installing the Office Web Components tool, users can view
published components and data access pages on the Web without having to
install Office 2003. Note: If you do not own an Office 2003 license, the
Office Web Components are licensed to be used in static, non-interactive,
client-side, view-only mode. If you do own an Office 2003 license, the Office
Web Components are licensed to be used in interactive mode."
There is nothing on the OWC11 download page that says anything about
intranet only usage, and there is no EULA contained in owc11.exe.
I would like to use the technique shown in the article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286277/en-us
where the OWC11 chart componenet would be used only on the server side to
genrate a GIF that would then be displayed on our web site.
Since we have an Office 2003 license for our web server, and the OWC chart
componenet would only be used on the server, can we legally use this
technique, even though we cannot know if the client browser computer has an
Office license?
I have searched every where I can think of, but I have not been able to find
a clear answer.
Thanks for any help.
