Carrie

Is Project Web Access able to run on Windows Vista? Has anyone else had
problems with this?

Thank you

Carrie, you should be fine. The bigger question is, what Internet Explorer
are you running. Version 6 and 7 are fine.
Hope this helps

I'm running IE 7 and am having major problems with status reports in PWA.
Whenever I open a status report, all I'm seeing is a red x in the box where
you should be able to type. I see Error on the Page in the bottom right
corner of the IE screen.

It freezes PWA for about 5 minutes, then I'm able to click on the box to
see what the error on the page is. It says Object doesn't support this
property or method. And it shows the url for my status report page, this is
how the url appears
\\http\pwaserver\statusreports\enterstatusreport.asp?_UnreqSR=1$_Dirty

I'm thinking that dirty at the end of the url cannot be good.

Any thoughts? Or have you seen this before?

Thanks in advance for your help, it is much appreciated!

Hi Carrie,

I have just tried the same thing, I ran PWA on Vista and EI7, went to the
Status report and received the same error message than you !!!

Hmmmm, now that is strange, I would have not expected this, I only
downloaded the Active X and that worked fine, thats why I replyed originally
saying that it works. By drilling down further, it appears that Vista and EI7
doesnt like some objects within the Active X component. Generally the page
builds up fine, its only the ActiveX that doesnt seem to work.

Sorry Carrie I will have to take back my initial feedback that it works, but
it looks very much like PWA Active X with Vista and Ei7 does not work.
Something to let Microsoft know.

I have to admit, i'm glad it's something others are experiencing as well.

Do you have the number or email I can use to contact MS on this issue? I
don't want to use one of my incidents on this issue.

Thank you

This is a known problem when using status reports while running on Vista.
The deal is that in Vista the DHTML editing control has been removed
completely and there's no way to add it back (this control provided the rich
editing capabilities for the sections within the report). Therefore, when
you hit the status reports page, it's trying to load a control that no
longer exists. If you ever run into problems like this where you go to a
page and it seems to be stuck because it's had a loading error, in many
cases you can switch away from the page (Alt+Tab, for example) and then back
and you'll then be able to navigate away from the page (close, back, etc).

We're working on a solution that'll use a different control; I don't have an
ETA yet on when a fix will be ready. I'd say if you or your company has a
service contract, you can contact the support organization and work that
channel to get a hotfix in a more expeditious manner. Take note that
contacting the support organization about known issues do not decrement your
service contract. Also note that not all support folks will be intimately
familiar with the problem, but be persistent.

Hi there,

Has Microsoft come up with a fix for this problem? I have 2 users
experiencing this problem right now and they're forced to submit their
reports using MS Word. As more people upgrade to Vista, I expect I'll be
seeing this more often.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dorothy

Hi..

I've seen MS is working in this issue since February... Isn't there a fix
yet?? About 40 of our employees have switched to Windows Vista and this is a
big issue for us..

Please provide some solution...

Yes everything works ok for me except the Status reports, which is the issue
we're talking about.. and Microsoft published it's working on a fix for this.
Something to do with the DHTML controls required for the status reports not
available in windows vista...

Is the fix ready??

I'm stuck on the same error with PWA 2003, IE7 & Vista. I have been on
Google for DAYS now looking for a solution. I have tried everything
with no success. No matter what I try, I cannot edit documents in
Project Server using web access. The documents load but with errors on
the page and then IE7 freezes. Changing the Security Settings,
installing the DHTML controls, registering/unregistering all of the PJ
ActiveX controls, removing & reinstalling the PJ ActiveX controls -
absolutely nothing works at all. The only thing I can think of is to
reinstall IE7 which is impossible under Vista. The next solution is to
reinstall Vista but I really don't see how that will work either - I'd
just end up wasting 3 hours to get back to where I am right now.
Unless I can get this resolved, we will have to drop Vista and go back
to XP because the XP users are now experiencing this problem. There
really should be an answer to this issue as it's been going on now for
over 1 year. I did look at this article http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa663363.aspx
but it was no help at all since the DHTML control installation did not
correct the problem. Is there a fix available at all? I cannot believe
that Vista doesn't work with Microsoft Project.

Maybe your temp solution will be to run on Terminal Server (if you have it)
or ru n Virtual PC if you have it)....

Hi,

The answer is yes and no. Project 2003 Web Access does run on Windows Vista
exept for the Status Reports submission page.

We did get it to work on machines running

Windows XP with IE 6
Windows XP (SP3) with IE 7
Windows 2003 Server with IE 7
Windows 2000 with IE 6

We CANNOT get it to work on ANY machine running

Windows Vista with IE 7
Windows Vista with IE 8 (Beta

Please help out if you can and thank-you for reading.
