When I try to send an e-mail, I get an error message with an explanation stating: "5.7.1 <[email protected]>... Relaying denied. IP name possibly forged (213.56.41.200)".
I have tried retyping my account information or switching to a new account (using the same account information) but it doesn't work. I can still send mail by using my account through my Internet Provider web page, so it means the error lies within my computer and not with my ISP. Can you help?

Yeah, it's a common issue. Many ISPs will prevent you from using their
SMTP server unless you are connected directly to it. If you connect from
a different ISP, you get this error message. The solution is usually to
use the SMTP of the local ISP.

Corentin et al:
I'm having the same send problem, but I have only one ISP.

I read somewhere else in this forum that Entourage works only with paid subscriptions. I have a paid Hotmail Plus account for Mac (set up yesterday). I can receive my hotmail messages in Entourage. I can also see my hotmail server folders and their contents ('though it takes a few minutes to download the messages, and I have to click on the folders within Entourage to do so). So the hotmail account seems to be at least partially working in Entourage. Why would only sending be a problem?

My (vague) error message is pasted below. Thanks for any help.

Error: 1412
Message: Mail could not be sent using the account "Hotmail."
HTTP error: The request cannot be fulfilled.

Entourage 10.1.04 (Office X)

Entourage X has problems with Hotmail. You can try updating Entourage X to
10.1.9, but you might have to upgrade Entourage to 2004 or 2008.

Download 10.1.9

In case the above link does not work:

My suggestion is to get a free Gmail account that will work or upgrade.

If you don't need Exchange you can get Office 2008 very reasonably. $109.99

I have had this problem for a couple of weeks now. I have Entourage 2008 Version 12.1.3. I can see my hotmail account, receive all messages, but I cannot send anything.
I never had this problem before. What can I do? I tried to retype my account but nothing worked.

I hope somebody can help me here

Are the messages filed in the Sent Items folder?

If you open the Progress window and click on the triangle to view progress,
can you see the messages sending?

Send & Receive Basics: (if they are appearing to send OK and you don't get
an error message your setting are most likely correct)

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

You can send me some examples off list.

Attach a draft using "Forward as Attachment". If you have one that I can
actually test send that would also help. Ask a friend to OK this.
