Can receive emails by unable to send

I can receive emails but when I try and send those in my
outbox, I get a time out error message from the host
server. I am connencted to the internet through a high
speed cable modem. At the same time, I can both send and
receive email using AOL on the same computer. Any ideas?

AOL uses proprietary protocols and formats for their e-mail service.
Since they do not follow Internet standards, you cannot use e-mail
clients that use Internet standards, like Outlook. You have to AOL's
software to use their e-mail service. See
