Can send mail but not receive - windows 98

Hi,
I am connecting one of my users to a windows 98 machine. I don't have as
much experience with this OS as i do the later ones but everything seems to
be configured correctly. The mail (control panel, mail) points to the correct
server and sees the users name. They can send messages but i see nothing in
their inbox, i confirm receipt and it showns in their sent folder so it seems
to only be working one way.

The OS doesn't matter.... what kind of mail account are you using? POP?
IMAP? Exchange? Are you sure there's no view filter on the inbox?
