so there is no way to bypass it?

it can be that you have the option of can shrink
in the detail and you cannot shrink in the form
Alas, we can only deal with the way things actually are, rather than the way
we would like them to be.
One of the ways to deal with things you don't like, of course, is to request
that they be changed. But, as CanShrink has worked the same at least since
Access 2.0, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to "fix" it.
I suppose your "solution" could be to print the form, or display the data in
a report, whenever you want to look at it. One could do some "tweaking" in
code, but it would be a lot of work for a feature that isn't high on most
people's priority list.
At its "ultimate," CanShrink will not display the Control to which it
applies. It does not make much sense to shrink the Control completely away
on a Form on the screen, because Forms are used to enter and edit data as
well as to display data, and someone would then be asking for a solution to
entering field data in a Control which is not displayed.
