CAN SOMEONE PLS HELP RE EMAIL ATTACHMENT PROBLEM?

I have Outlook 2000 w/XP OS. When I click "Insert" to send a file
with an Email, the File goes into the body of the Email & recipients are
unable to open the attachment. Why, when I click "Insert", doesn't the file
attachment go in on an attachment line window under the "Subject"
line window like it used to do (when I had Windows 2K) where it can be
opened by the recipient ? Please advise. Thank you.

Did you try Microsoft Outlook's excellent help function (Press F1) to show
you how to change your email format?

Tools > Options > Mail Format > Send in this Message Format

You have a choice of plain text, rich text (the Microsoft default), or HTML.
Rich text format is specific to Microsoft Outlook and so non Outlook email
clients have difficult reading the email or cannot open attachments.

Thank you for your response. Yes I did do the so-called F1. (Actually, the
help prompt is on my screen the duration I have Office Word/Outlook on my
screen). If that had provided the needed info I wouldn't be having to make
this inquiry. I still need to know how to transmit my Emails w/attachments
intact so that there won't be a problem with the recipient(s) being unable to
open them. Appreciate any assistance you could provide about this.

It is complete and is well defined. Your job is to explore your Outlook
well enough to understand its options. Start with Help.

I had the same problem with outlook 2000. Funny thing is ..I just downloaded
outlook 2003 and stil I cannot attach anything on an e-mail! Not sure
either what I am doing wrong.......Sorry cannot be of any help.......anyone
out there?

Brian - I congratulate you for being the epitome of arrogance. Consequently
it never occurred to you that I had searched out help extensively without
finding the answer, which is what led me to this discussion group.
Thankfully, there are other people in the group who have a better attitude
than you. Come to think if it, maybe it's best for everyone if you don't
participate at all in the future. Meanwhile, Kathleen Orland provides a good
example for you to study.

Kathleen I believe I have done you a disservice. To explain - I smashed my
hand & today had to go to the Dr. Now my hand is in a cast, (which greatly
hampers using the computer since I am right handed). But before I left &
being in a lot of pain, I misread your message below by not picking up on
your instructions of "Tools> Options> etc." After getting home from the Dr's
& on pain meds, I re-read what you stated & realized I had inadvertently
overlooked part of your msg. So I followed your guidelines which, I'm glad
to report, cleared up the problem I was having in Outlook w/my attachments.
Thanks to you I also have a better understanding of the situation & how to
deal with it in the future. I am very grateful to you for that. I wish
Outlook help had done as good of job as you in providing better info. On the
other hand, Outlook doesn't have a category for this type of situation, which
is the crux of the problem in this type of situation.

Again, very much appreciate your directives re Tools> Options>etc. That did
work for plain text & HTML. However, I discovered going this route brought
up another problem. I have more than 1 Email acc't. Normally I can do a
pull-down on the Send button to select which acc't to send from. In trying
to Send via plain text or HTML, it does not allow me to select from which
acc't to transmit the Email. Any way to get around that when using plain
text or HTML? Thanks!
