I doubt it, but anyway to sort by usual stuff in Rows, and then also by colors I've filled in? thanks.

Hi,

This could be done using visual basic. Your macro would need to
ascertain the current color of the cells or cell range in question, then
you would have to establish a sort order to follow and a sorting
algorithm to accomplish the desired sort.

This would not be a small task.

thanks JIm,
I'm going to pass on that, but was thinking today, that in Bridge, the photo gallery app that comes with Photoshop, there is a sort by label option. So if I label photos green, or blue etc, I can sort those.
Seems very odd that Excel -- being the sorting powerhouse it is -- does not have a sort by color feature.

You make a bunch of rows red, it's unbelievable excel can not sort the red rows.

Maybe someday - IIRC, Excel 2007 (Windows) now has that feature. In fact,
you can sort by cell color or font color. Go the Help> Send Feedback route
to justify having it in the Mac version.

Thanks Bob, good to know, I'll keep my ears out for next version. Maybe that will tip the balance-- I'm sure they would add that if they did for windows, don't you think?. I did not get 2008, as not only did there not seem a good reason to, I heard they got rid of macros!

What will be included in the next version of Office is anyone's guess unless
there is a formal announcement of it from MS. The one thing that has been
announced is that support for VBA will be restored. Anyone with knowledge
beyond that is not at liberty to disclose the information.
